Capoeira Senzala Hawaii is bringing Mestre Gato to Hawaii on May 16th, 2012. Please support our efforts to expose this Brazilian martial art to the people of Hawaii.

Mestre Gato has been practicing the art of capoeira since 1963. He is one of the founders of Grupo Senzala, who developed training techniques that helped popularize capoeira around the world. Although capoeira has expanded immensely since its start as an Afro-Brazilian self-defense and dance, its humble roots can still be seen through the music, rhythm, movements, and energy when performed by an experienced capoeira practitioner who truly understands the essence of capoeira.

To see Mestre Gato from Rio, Brazil would be an awesome opportunity for anyone who plays capoeira, wants to learn capoeira, or is simply curious about a different culture, to experience this unique artform from one of the most influential masters alive and active today.

May 19th 2012 special street roda with guest Mestre Gato. Location to be announced. Most likely Waikiki in front of the Duke Kahanamoku Statue on Kalakaua Ave. @ 5:30pm.

Come to the Waikiki Roda every first Saturday of each month in front of the Duke Kahanamoku Statue on Kalakaua Ave. @ 5:30pm.

This upcoming roda in May will be with Japa before he leaves for LA.
